As a departure from Arai's signature breakbeat, New Normal compiles techno-tinged tracks from his 90s-00s output and hand-dips them in fluorescent acid. From the cartoony cut-and-paste of Topsy and Toys Boys to the four-to-the-floor flourishes of Entropy and Eagle, the manic mishmash remains cohesive, fluctuating from loungey after-hour binges to frantic shmup loading screens.

With New Normal, Arai has mastered glossy, gaudy bangers for the hazy window between the Friday night dance floor and Saturday morning cartoons.
