about

For our first label compilation, we present a fun little sampler platter featuring various sounds from around the globe. While admittedly all over the place, we've at least tried to make it somewhat cohesive by dividing the vibes by sides. Allow me to explain:

Side A: Outside

It's a beautiful day, so you bring your Walkman outdoors. You notice that these tracks are better suited for forest bathing or a scenic drive through green pastures. This side is also more performed and organic - you even hear lyrics (!) and acoustic guitar. There's a track for all settings and occasions...

For a crunchy Belgian Kraftwerk spy stakeout, look no further than Borokov Borokov's "Temperament".

For funky synth pop well-suited for neighborhood bike rides, flip on DVD Fair's "Autobond".

For mudding on Midwest backroads, try out "Universal Rundle". Later on, you can drift off in front of the campfire to Elatu Nessa's "Unes Kaatuu".

Side B: Inside

Before flipping the tape over, you decide to take a break indoors. As you lounge, the blue light from your bedroom television reflects off your spectacles and illuminates the shag carpeting. You start Side B and discover music a bit colder, more synthetic, comparatively computerized. You keep your mind open as you begin to world-hop.

First, you jump over to Japan for some of Sonotanotanpenz's lovely "Milovat'" before heading to a cyberpunk club where Takahiro Mukai is mid-set.

Next, you head somewhere a bit more frigid. You find yourself in Estonia, immersed in Lootus's drum and bass deconstruction "Fighters" and Ratkiller's frantic and inspired collage "Nanoneurosis". Finland is nearby, and with it comes Ecto Mist's awe-inspiring ambient house "Gosammer", a track equal parts Looney Tunes and Gas.

Heading back to the Americas, the collection ends on a reflective note with Laura Luna Castillo's "Orogenesis", which manages to be both menacing and soothing, violent and comforting.

You managed to fall asleep amidst it all, waking up some time later to turn off the television, grab a glass of water, and crawl into bed.

Here's to hoping you have a taste for our eclectic array and that it whets your sonic appetite. Just remember to take some time between sides to avoid whiplash.
